Do Not Give Your Dog These Foods

!±8± Do Not Give Your Dog These Foods

It might be considered ideal to completely separate food for dogs and food for people.

However there is something appealing about the dog sharing your table scraps and preventing left over food from being wasted. When you do this, be very careful that certain foods are not given to the dog, as they can cause them to be ill.

When your own food is simple and easily separated, then it can be quite safe and sensible to allow them to finish up what you have left.

There is unlikely to be a problem with meat - except pork - but do not give them any animal bones. The dog may also enjoy some vegetables, especially when there is meat gravy as well, without any ill effect.

Mushrooms should be avoided at all costs; they can make the dog very ill.

Sauces which contain onions and garlic are another no-no, as are some fruits, such as grapes and raisins. While the dog's diet can be brightened up with some of the table scraps, we need to be careful, as a simple mistake here could have serious consequences.

When going for sweet treats, it is best to stick to those which have been specially made for pet dogs.

Chocolate for humans can be particularly dangerous and milk is not at all good for them. Keep a close eye on what you feed the dog, but also make sure they can not get access to the foods which can harm them - in the trash for instance.

Having a well nourished and well trained dog is an enormous pleasure - look after them and they will love you for it.
